As an autonomous, socially-responsible organization, Prathama Blood Centre recognizes its responsibility to secure the blood-related needs of Prathama's voluntary blood donors. As voluntary blood donors fulfil their social responsibility by donating blood frequently, the Centre too is morally responsible to care their needs. Our Blood Assurance Policy is one such initiative, in this direction.
1. Replacement-free Individual Annual Blood Assurance Cover (Priority Voucher)
A blood donor of Prathama is eligible to get blood components equivalent to the number of his / her blood donations, when required for immediate family members. Namely spouse, children and parents. This is free of blood replacement 1. for that year. Testing done at concessional charges. These vouchers are valid from 7 th day for 1 year, from the date of issue.
2. Regular Blood donors Assurance Cover (Donor Booklet)
If an individual has donated blood at Prathama two or more times in last 12 months, or 4 times in 24 months, he/she is considered as a regular blood donor. In case a regular donor himself / herself needs blood, shall be provide a specified number of components, equivalent to the donor's blood donation at Prathama, without blood replacement and testing charges during the policy period. The policy will continue as long as the donor maintains continuity in blood donation.
3. Replacement-free Family & Friends Lifelong Blood Assurance Cover
Any individual who has donated blood 5 times at Prathama Blood Centre can use his / her credit of 1 unit of blood component without blood testing charges 2 and replacement, for the use of his / her immediate family, relatives & friends, any time in life.
4. Replacement-free Individual Lifelong Blood Assurance Cover
By donating blood 25 or more times at Prathama, a donor acquires special status. In recognition of this, Prathama offers to provide life-long individual blood requirement. An equivalent number of blood components, against donations. Free of blood replacement and testing charges 2 , as and when required.
5. Replacement-free Blood Donor Organization Blood Assurance Cover
For every 5 units of blood donated at Prathama by an organization / group, 1 (one) blood coupon 2 of 25% discount issued. Up to 3 coupons can be credited for the blood requirement of any employee / member of that organization/group – especially those who are economically-dependent. After assessing the status of the employee's requirement and financial background, the Donor Organisation could issue a specific discount. This is valid for 1 year, from the date of issue.
Terms & conditions:
The assurance is towards a blood donor's donation to Prathama only. His/her contribution to other blood banks will not be considered .
Order of Priority
Prathama is committed to provide blood without replacement in shortest possible time, to every patient. Almost 99% blood or blood components go out of Prathama without replacement, to needy patients. During emergency and severe blood shortage, blood is issued in the following order of priority: •
Patients in critical life-threatening situations.
• Individual Blood donors & his/her immediate family (spouse, children & parents)
• Blood donor organizations, organizer and ambassador recommendations.
• Recommendations of 10 and 5 times blood donors.
• Routine requirement of other patients.
Discount Coupons
The discount can be availed against 1 unit of blood component, and not on total billing amount. No discount scheme can be clubbed with any other scheme.
General Terms & Conditions
Blood Assurance Policies and Schemes are purely voluntary in nature. They are designed to provide the needed ‘safety net' to the blood donors, who donate voluntarily at Prathama for a social cause.
Prathama feels morally bound to fulfil all the commitments made. However, this is subject to the availability of the components, at that point of time. Prathama takes no guarantee on product availability & delivery.
Prathama also reserves the right to cancel/modify the assurance policies & schemes, from time to time. The decision of the Prathama management stands final.
Blood Assurance Policy (the Donor Booklet) is an important document. All blood donors should carry this along, for any transaction relating to blood donation or collection.
While availing the benefits of Blood Assurance Policy, the donor should establish the necessary proof of identity, economic status wherever applicable.
Donors should continue donating blood at Prathama, to increase the availability of safe blood in society. More so, as blood donors are regarded as ‘socially responsible citizens' around the world.
This is purely a social effort – by the Society, from the Society and to the Society. We are just a facilitating agency in the entire process. Hence, kindly acknowledge and appreciate our motives and limitations.

- You do not need to donate blood (replace) in exchange, for this.
- The policies & freeship apply to the component testing charge for Red cells, FFP, CPP, Cryo, Platelet Conc. (RDP) on unit basis, and is subject to availability.
