Blood donation process:
 
1) Registration
When you visit Prathama Blood Centre or any of the Blood Mobile Vans to donate blood, you are asked to fill a 'Donor registration’ form.
This is your consent to donate blood at the blood centre.
You are asked few questions by the Doctor on drive to assess whether you qualify under eligibility criteria to donate blood.
2) Health Screening
After filling the registration form you undergo a medical
Screening.Trained staff of blood centre will check your temperature, blood pressure, pulse & weight to ensure that you are eligible to donate.
Once you qualify to donate you straight away walk to donation.
In case your are differed, you are advised to consult a Doctor from the panel of clinicians who can advise you on your health.Your will get first free consultation with the clinician and discount on consultation fee.
 
3) The Blood Donation
Before the donation, a trained staff member cleans the area of the arm that is used for blood donation. All supplies used in this process, including the needle, are sterile and disposable; therefore, it is highly safe to donate blood at Prathama. The actual blood donation will only take 5-10 minutes. Entire process may however take 30 to 35 minutes.
4) Refreshment
After your donation, you will be taken to our refreshment .area, where our volunteers will provide you with refreshment to replenish the sugar and fluids in your body. It is advisable to take light refreshment after the donation
5) Post Donation Care
Avoid climbing steps for next 30 minutes
If there is bleeding from the phlebotomy site, raise the arm and apply pressure
If fainting or dizziness occurs, either lie down or site with the head between the knees
Resume all normal activities if no symptoms occur
Remove bandage next day.

Each whole blood donation is separated into four components - plasma, platelets, and red blood cells and Cryo. This later transfused by various hospitals to patient in need. So by donating every 3 months, you can save up to 16 lives in one year!
5Time Donor Certificate

After your 5th Blood Donation you will get an appreciation certificate personally signed by Director, Social Services as token of appreciation for your selfless act. This certificate also entails you to extend various benefits and priority for blood at Prathama Blood Center.
Personal Blood Insurance Policy

After your 5th Blood Donation you will be automatically enrolled for Prathama Blood Insurance Policy. Under this policy you can use one unit of blood component free of cost for yourself or immediate family member. However when you need it for yourself, you can use up to 5 blood components free of cost. Other service charges are applicable.
10 Time Donor
You Saved 40 lives

Every time you donate blood with Prathama you can save up to 4 lives. How is this possible? Each whole blood donation is separated into four components - plasma, platelets, and red blood cells and Cryo. This later transfused by various hospitals to patient in need. So by donating every 3 months, you can save up to 16 lives in one year!
10Time Donor Certificate

After your 10th Blood Donation you will get a beautifully framed appreciation certificate personally signed by Director, Social Services as token of appreciation for your selfless act. This certificate also entails you to extend various benefits and priority for blood at Prathama Blood Center.
Gift Hamper

As esteemed blood donor, you will get a Gift Hamper from Prathama Blood Centre after your 10th donation. The Gift Hamper is delivered to your postal address along with the Appreciation Certificate.

25Time Donor Certificate

After your 25th Blood Donation you will get a beautifully framed appreciation certificate personally signed by Director, Social Services as token of appreciation for your selfless act. This certificate also entails you to extend various benefits and priority for blood at Prathama Blood Center.
Silver Jubilee Memento

After your 25th Blood Donation you will be awarded with a Silver Jubilee Memento in a function organized annually on Prathama Anniversary day i.e., 16th November. As token of appreciation for your commitment and dedication this Silver Memento shall be bestowed upon you by a Chief Gust of the Function.
Gift Hamper:

As esteemed blood donor, you will get a Gift Hamper from Prathama Blood Centre after your 25th donation. The Gift Hamper is delivered to your postal address along with the Appreciation Certificate.
Personal Blood Insurance Policy

After your 25th Blood Donation as part of Prathama Blood Insurance Policy you can use 5 unit of blood component free of cost for yourself or immediate family member. However when you need it for yourself, you can use up to 25 blood components free of cost. No other blood centre in India offers this kind of benefit to its blood donors. It’s a rare honor.
Wellness Checkup:

As 25 time donor you will get access to wellness check up for temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and hemoglobin level at Prathama Blood Centre or at any of our Blood Mobile Vans. For this you have to carry your “Blood Donor” booklet. By this you can also help yourself when you present to donate! You undergo a wellness check. These test reports are available after 5 days from your donation date and provide a means to monitor your health on regular basis.
