Why ? Blood testing charge ?: Prathama administers only approved testing charges uniformly from all the patients/ hospitals in the city. The blood testing charges are controlled by government norms and no blood centre could charge beyond the approved cost norms. It could only recover the costs that it incurred during the blood banking process with in these limits.
Discount to poor patients: Prathama Blood Centre is committed to serve the poor and needy patients who are in need of blood. To its commitment, Prathama offers various discounts to poor and needy patients from various parts of the city.
Any poor patient who is in need of blood could approach Prathama with a proof of identity. This could be a 'Ration Card'or 'BPL' card. Based on the available proof Prathama offers upto 60% discount on testing charges.
Similarly for Thalassemic and Haemophilic patients Prathama offers discount up to 60% on charges.
In addition patients admitted in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation hospitals are also eligible for discount up to 60% on blood testing charges.
We encourage philanthropists and sponsors to come forward and contribute to the cause. Many patients live in deep poverty and could not afford even the partial cost. Generous sponsors could come forward to support all such patients.
Discount to Thalassimia / Hemophilia patients: Thalassemia and Haemophilia are blood disorders where the affected person survives only through blood transfusion at regular intervals. This makes their life miserable and families get shattered. In our country every year 10000 children are born with Thalassemia. This is due to lack of awareness. Prathama is working on awareness raising and educating youth on this aspect.
Prathama is committed to provide all its support to those who are already suffering from Thalassemia or Haemophilia by providing needed blood components without replacement at 60% discount to all those registered with the institution.
More over Prathama conducts Thalassemia screening to college students in collaboration with various organisations who undertake such activity.
Most of such screenings are sponsored by a philanthropist or a financial donor. Some times the educated youth themselves come forward to bear the nominal cost.
However the condition of families having Thalassemic or Haemophilic child is miserable. They need immediate financial assistance. We request Corporate and Business groups to come forward and support such children.
