Introduction
One of the biggest challenges for India is safe and sustained blood supply. There is huge gap between need for blood & safe blood availability. More than 2000 registered blood banks are operational in India and many more are being established. The need for quality human resource is immense.

Prathama being pioneer in modern blood banking offers one of the best short term training programs and CMEs for various personnel in the field. Prathama is the first blood centre in the country to start a DNB program in Transfusion Medicine. Practicing doctors, technicians, and drug inspectors participate in various short term training programs sponsored by either respective state governments or institutions. These training programs are announced from time to time.
Specific Training Programs
I) Medical Doctors
The Institute desirous to organize training for its personnel at Prathama Blood Centre should send a request letter to the Medical Director specifying the number of doctors / technicians nominated for the program along with tentative dates, the duration and specific subject areas.
Training charges for doctors*:
One week observer-ship: Rs. 2000/-
Four weeks of hands on training: Rs. 7000/-
Twelve weeks of hands on training: Rs. 20,000/-
The participants shall have to make their own arrangements for lodging and boarding. Trainees shall have access to the technical manual and library only with prior written permission from respective Medical Director/concerned authority. Participants shall receive a Certificate from Prathama Blood Centre after successful completion of training.
II) Technologists
The Institute desirous to organize training for its personnel at Prathama Blood Centre should send a request letter to the Medical Director specifying the number of doctors / technicians nominated for the program along with tentative dates, the duration and specific subject areas. They shall be spending time in each lab or in specified lab. as observers and take note of activities.
Training charges for technicians*:
One week observer-ship: Rs. 1500/-
Four weeks of hands on training: Rs. 5000/-
Twelve weeks of hands on training: Rs. 15,000/-
The participants shall have to make their own arrangements for lodging and boarding. * Training Charges are per person per course basis. Lodging and Boarding is not provided by Prathama Blood Centre. However the Reception Desk on request could help the participants in suitable accommodation.
